The Mishnas Olam organization consists of a large group of avreichim in Jerusalem who regularly complete the entire Shas Mishnayos. These avreichim are available to study Mishnayos on demand, and the merit of their Torah study will accrue in Heaven to benefit the sponsors of Mishnas Olam and their families or loved ones.
In the Mishnas Olam system, a group of respected Torah scholars will complete the entire six orders of Mishnayos in a single day. The sponsors of Mishnas Olam have the opportunity to earn a twofold merit in Heaven, gaining both from the Torah study of these eminent scholars and from the mitzvah of tzedakah that they perform by sponsoring these scholars’ sacred studies.
Traditionally, Mishnayos are studied to benefit the soul of a departed family member or other individual. The neshamah of a deceased always thirsts for additional good deeds to be done on its behalf; the value of such good deeds in Heaven is inestimable. The scholars of Mishnas Olam help the families of the departed earn their relative’s eternal gratitude—and help the deceased themselves reap the infinite fruits of their Torah study. The entire Shas can be completed on any date requested by family members—the yahrtzeit, the shloshim, or even the end of shivah.
The services of Mishnas Olam, however, are not limited to times of sorrow. Joyous events such as family simchos are also wonderful occasions to sponsor a day of Torah study; a simchah such as a wedding, Bar Mitzvah, bris, or even an upsheren is inestimably enhanced when it is accompanied by the two great mitzvos of Torah study and tzedakah. Furthermore, sponsoring a day of Torah study in Eretz Yisrael can be a tremendous merit for anyone facing a challenge or crisis. The Mishnayos study of Mishnas Olam’s scholars can be used as a zechus for a person undergoing a medical crisis or an operation, a person in need of a shidduch, or a person who simply needs success in his everyday endeavors. It is worth noting that the gematria of the word “Mishnah” and the word “parnassah” are identical; the Chida points out that the study of Mishnayos can have a powerful impact on a person’s livelihood. Similarly, when the number one is added to the gematria of the word “Mishnah” (a common device in gematrias), the result is the same as the gematria of the phrase “zivug hagun b’karov.”
